yup that’s way more important and easier. I have system configurations backed up to my private git repo, locally on an external drive, and offsite. then for important docs/files/etc both a local and offsite backup. all run via borg.

THANK YOU. in my 30+ years of computing I’ve never run any anti-virus on anything and surprise surprise I’ve never once had a system crash or corrupted from a virus, trojan, malware, whatever simply because I never downloaded shady shit. I’ve had people become visibly upset with me because I’ve said to people “you don’t need anti-virus if you’re smart about what you’re doing” even people in the linux community have called it bullshit. it’s not.

it just boggles my mind that people build their entire personality and devote themselves to multi-billion dollar companies like windows or simply platforms like Linux. I use Linux, I don’t care if people use Windows and trust me if something went south with Linux or Microsoft massively improved Windows I’d honestly go back to it. I’m a fan of stuff that works. that’s it.

believe it or not there are microsoft fanboys so it doesn’t surprise me there is a discord. You can also find A LOT of them on bluesky of all places where they seem to be worse than the “just use linux” people.

honestly I just looked at what others have done with qobuz-player which is a TUI qobuz player and pretty much copied and pasted that.

yeah I recently built myself a music player because I was just so disappointed with all the available options on Linux. Nothing had EVERYTHING I wanted. Many had really crappy shuffles or just didn’t include one at all. many just wouldn’t play the entirety of your music collection and most simply wouldn’t do both online streaming and local music playback. So I built one that’s TUI based that does everything I want and it’s perfect. Allows me to play music from QoBuz, my Navidrome server, or just local music files OR I can play all three making a “SUPER” music library. Shuffle that ACTUALLY shuffles the ENTIRE collection. search feature, integration with soulseek to download music to either my local machine or navidrome and qobuz search to add to that playlist.

I’m not going to release it because A. like i said it’s perfect for me and B. I dont’ want to deal with users git issues or having to deal with other devs wanting to contribute. It works, it’s mine, and that’s that. will never see the light of day.

for my dev work and workflow learning how to effectively use the terminal and use it for just about everything.

Once you figure it out and use a good terminal IDE using your computer just becomes faster. It’s faster than using a GUI for everything. Utilizing the terminal and a tiling Window Manager also makes using the mouse obsolete. I don’t use a mouse or touchpad for anything other than gaming now. using the mouse slows me down.

I can manage everything on my computer now and multiple programs with 2 terminal windows. or simply manage everything within DOOM Emacs.

that’s another program I strongly suggest people check out and learn. DOOM Emacs is my go to IDE, Terminal, Email client, Git Manager, and File Manager. does all that and does it all well.

For the Americans Trump is just a figurehead, they’ve got many more waiting in the wings to take his place when the time comes soon. Same deal with Netanyahu. It’s up to the people now, in both countries, to take action but I don’t see that happening. More Americans are going to die. This isn’t Iraq, this isn’t Afghanistan, the death toll is going to be worse and the American people need to stop laying on their backs and saying “please sir, may I have another?” General strike, storm the capital, get the pikes ready for heads to be placed on them. So I now believe it’s up to the world to take action.

Revolutions aren’t won without bloodshed. And before people say “you’re not American, why do you care?” because what happens today affects EVERYONE in the world and the Republicans and Zionists know this. People are going to flee Iran and neighbouring countries now. They’re not going to go to America, They’re not going to Israel, they’re going to go to Europe and Canada which will further distabilize housing and resources in these places. And that’s the plan. Weaken Europe and Canada and other aligned nations. The US, Israel and Russia are looking to capitalize on all of this. They are your new axis.
