World News@quokk.au•EU plans to fine Google high triple-digit million euro sumEnglish
21·5 days agoyeah, its a shit ton of money, but google is worth fucking 4.62 trillion fucking dollars. Lets the eu fines them the highest. 1b$. A shit ton of money. That is 0.021 of their total value. 0.021%. Are you fucking kidding me. Comperatively to their worth, its pennies. The equivalent for fining an average american worker, making the average wage, which is around 65,000$ lets say would be $13.65. In 2025 alone, google MADE 400 fucking billion. Its a fucking small amount. Stop spreading propaganda about these big companies.
Edit: sorry bad calcs, 1 billion is 0.00021 of 4.62 trillion. The equivilant for 65000, as someone helpfully pointed out below is 13.65
Edit 2: Alphabet is buying a fucking chipotle bowls worth of money.

2·24 days agoI think so, because that was during the peak of the ram shortage, and LPCAMM2 was barely produced then.

11·24 days agoYeah, thats true but framework solved this with LPCAMM2 modules, which have much higher write speeds that sodimm. And just because “few actually upgrade it” doesnt mean all ram should be soldered, as having unsoldered ram caters to a completely different consumer market.

312·1 month agoAs someone who uses arch, its just stability. Arch is great for a hobby, if you want to do work, use fedora. Its so much simpler. That being said, I love arch because of the tinkering, and that lack of tinkering is why I switched off fedora.
And if you want a desktop (linux) client, Akregator works pretty well with similar functionality to Feeder.

The Final War led to the invention of blood-powered machines as mostly soldiers and an arms race. A climate catastrophe caused by the war led to the Sun being blotted out, ending the war. Humans during the New Peace discovered and then started expeditions into Hell, up until their eventual extinction.

10·2 months agoLook at my instance name
Ozymandias by Percy Bysh Shelby
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
Its because systemd breaks the “unix” philosophy, which is that each tool should do only one job, and do it well, while systemd does login managing, startup, and a ton of stuff around the system. Also, its development is funded by Red Hat, which some criticize due to a for profit corporation trying to get into linux kernel. Otherwise, the recent age verification field has also had some drama, because it sucks. I take from it that systemd is a free and open source tool that does its job really well, so in the end it doesnt really matter.
