What is Intel Microcode anyway? Been bugging me for ages seeing it reported for violating vrms.

I think the original wasn’t getting maintained properly or something. There was a big conversation about it a couple of months ago on one of the open source communities here if you want to search for it. Nothing shady iirc.
It’s great. It’s the most “just works” experience I’ve had with Linux.
If you’re struggling with your windows plugins I highly recommend checking out kxstudio for native Linux ones. There are excellent plugins for audio production on linux. I also recommend using Ardour as your DAW.
Thanks :) I’m happy to chat to any musicians who read this and are curious about alternative release options.
These exploitation economies are a race to the bottom.
That’s exactly what they are and exactly what they do.
I don’t have any app suggestions for you but have been reading through the comments and just wanted to say that I’m 100% with you.
I have a similar conversation with other musicians I know and it’s the reason that I (and many others) won’t release anything on Spotify: Just being there adds value to them and what they do is destructive and dirty.
I hope you find something and keep standing up for what’s right!
Check out Kiwix for offline libraries like Wikipedia and TED
Your timing is excellent: Debian 13 is due for release on Saturday :)
I could be wrong but I suspect the problem is with exporting as .jpg, although GIMP might be able to prevent the problem with the right export settings. I’ve experienced similar in the past, with .png too iirc.
You could try reopening the exported jpg in GIMP, lowering the saturation (merge to layer, rather than as an fx layer of course), and then choosing overwrite instead of save or export. A bit cumbersome but may get the job done.
A good person to ask could be @CmykStudent@fosstodon.org on Mastodon. I think he’s one of the GIMP developers who works on colour.
Good one, especially for hikers and sailors 👍
Speed cameras are very common in the UK and while they don’t eliminate speeding altogether, they are effective.
Apart from the risk of either a fine, doing a ‘speed awareness’ course or losing your license, it also means that people who are driving too fast regardless are more likely to simply get stuck behind other drivers who are observing the speed limit.
Also have a look at Jami. You can use it for calls and sharing files.
I have a smartphone and a small dumbphone - one for work stuff and one for play. I have glued velcro to the backs of them, so they can be like one phone in my pocket. Ultimate flexibility.
Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’m doing at the moment (haven’t quite got to door-to-door though - maybe it will come to that). Those are some good ideas for locations for placing ads - thanks. I’m out of that headspace and need to get back in it!
I can’t help noticing how much work is coming in to my peers from instagram though. I’m getting the impression that it has become the standard medium/conduit for professionals.
You should be able to do it via USB too if you allow data transfer in USB settings on Android when you plug it into your Debian machine. Also Syncthing. I’ve been doing it these ways for years. No hacking needed.
I use Musify from F-droid for what your describing.
To be honest though I only really listen to my offline collection and radio/internet radio for discovering new music.
Check out The Indie Beat. It’s an internet radio station playing music from artists on the Fediverse, like Radio Free Fedi used to. All my favourite discoveries from the last couple of years have been by or via Fedi artists.
Thanks for your work on both!
