Crab battle!

This post got me thinking I might want to try it. I started with Linux Mint and then Fedora KDE Plasma, and I still don’t understand a lot behind how Linux works, beyond doing as told for a few commands to update or install something, but I’ve been reading a lot about the age verification and AI in Linux and things people say about systemd. As far as I understand it, I thought that Linus Torvalds basically told people to get used to AI in Linux or fork it yourself. But in doing so, as my YouTube algorithm keeps warning me, now older hardware is in threat of not being supported as the newer code stops accounting for it. I’m not educated in this stuff even though i try to grasp it. I’m here to use my pc to work and game (and retain control over my media) and make fanart without the ever increasing reach of these operating systems going to hell. It’s exhausting.
I guess what I’m asking is, is Linux Void independent of these issues? I just don’t know where to go and what to focus on learning.
Re: your last point, I am definitely moving away from Microsoft products for that very reason. We were discussing Linux here, right? It’s become a headache to find a distro I feel ethical and safe about using.
