2·2 months agoThe creator of Nonviolent Communication didn’t like the name either. He said he used it because it connected him with people around the world to share his ideas.
Do all demands have an assumption of violence attached? (do this or I will force something to happen) I am failing to think of ways that demands don’t have implied physical violence if they are genuine.

2·2 months agoMy experience is it’s used as “go fuck yourself” when it’s coming from strangers or people trying to place themselves as superior. In more familiar relationships, it can also can be used to express sympathy (especially about pain or difficult circumstances), as thanks, or to communicate you’ve misunderstood something (but it’s okay that you did).
