That there are barely any news stories within the continent, sure, I see how that would be possible.
But internationally? I don’t see any news anywhere about this.

Honestly it’s not too difficult to do a better job than us

Really? I thought he sneezed 🥸
Gotta say spring, summer has been getting a little too hot and most of my life I’ve not had AC. I’ve got bad memories trying to sleep with the heat in an “attic”-style bedroom.
I thought we were finally over the fact that it is no longer a “bad thing”-to show publicly. I still remember high school days days, where showing any kind of a fear or other emotion, was seen as a weakness.
My hope is is that the youth does not copy-cat this psychotic behavior too much.

While COVID was awful, we did get something awesome for it in return: the MASSIVE research boost into mRNA-based applications.
The advancements it has made is nothing short of phenomenal. Creating a vaccine, verifying it is safe and then distributing it, all within a few years is absolutely insane, and was never done before.
And this twat now just wants more people to get sick.

Thought I was on theonion for a second
Honestly at this point I’m not even surprised anymore, what kinds of people would propose these kind of bills?
Tariffs don’t work if you don’t produce said good in your own country, or have the capability to import it from another country that is not tariffed by yourself.
By saying that, it’s no wonder people get annoyed products get more expensive.
People still want to see people.
And, of course, you can make more money when you force everyone to come in.

What the fuck, no way
Thank you! Had the domain for a while, and now found the perfect use case for it :D
I feel like PeerTube only makes sense in the case of “I have the technical knowledge to host my own instance”
As indeed, I find it difficult to believe that any single “community”-instance will survive once it starts getting some traction. Hosting, maintaining and moderating such a platform would be extremely expensive if you have to do it for not only your own content.

Ease of access and user experience. A single platform beats that, as you don’t have to choose where to signup and everything will be available without effort.
However, Lemmy is getting better with that and hopefully the user base continues growing. It doesn’t need to have a billion users to be an awesome experience.
Perfect idea!
Let’s improve the character building by requiring people to first setup their own Lemmy instance before they can join a larger one.
That surely will improve the amount of users here 😇

I completely agree!
Posting/commenting on Reddit largely feels like a waste of time to me if it’s not something big and attention grabbing. I would get zero people to interact for days, while on Lemmy I usually get a reply within a few hours if I have a question about a post.
Of course this isn’t evidence of anything, but I feel that it’s because Lemmy hasn’t been flooded with bots (yet? Hopefully never).
This is why people should be worried of using these massive services, luckily it was ‘only’ Discord (if this was your primary way to interact with friends, this can be a huge deal).
But imagine if it was your email account!
Getting a reputable provider, self hosting or using a decentralized option is paramount for your own sanity.
So, I work with New Yorkers and this happens all the time lol. How should I respond to this in a proper way then lol, it feels odd to respond with the same question :P
