I would let him have the same stuff as his classmates
By the way, this one really stings. Sucks to not be able to participate with friends using their phones. Sucks even more to have to borrow it because you need to participate in a class activity that requires it or have to do something urgently and no way to use a computer.
I’m not gonna be a Luddite and say smart phone bad. However, you seem concerned so I’d recommend locking it down as much as possible if you want to keep them off stuff like TikTok or Xitter.
As an anecdote, having a smart phone made school much more tolerable since it let me watch TV during lunch, browse memes when waiting in awfully long lines daily, and being able to listen to music when allowed was awesome. They’ll definitely be grateful for one, just gotta make sure it’s not abused.
Also, they’re going to need to be acquainted with the little computer in their pocket eventually. Good to do it before they reach the rebellious phase.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could keep your body at a certain physical age...2·4 months agoI guess I’m the weird one choosing a much younger age. Perfect for me would be 16-18. Feel like that was when my body was most resilient.
That’s fucking hilarious then.
Is the implication that he made a super insecure program and left the token for his AI thing in the code as well? Or is he actually being hacked because others are coping?
Why would I want an anthropomorphic hyena over my shirts? It’s still a kind of branding.
I’m familiar with Hyena Agenda. A friend showed me their shirts because he is one. Never before been so jealous.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People are actually paying to wear an ad?71·4 months agoDon’t think they are open source but they do provide a ton of free, high quality icons. Presumably they make money off the organizations paying for the icon packs.
I’m not sure what OP has against them. He should take a look at how Nike has hypnotized a portion of the population into giving them money for shoes with a check mark.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People are actually paying to wear an ad?10·4 months agoI feel like I became cognizant of this when I tried customizing my GTA Online character in something that wasn’t a nice suit (street wear). After scroling through so much cotton billboard it made get how tacky and humiliating it is. Turned out to be much harder in real life to find non-branded shirts with cool designs, such utter bullshit.
I despise branded clothing but that does look like something funny to wear.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If money was no object, where would you be booking your next holiday?7·4 months agoNever really thought about it. Have always wanted to visit either the French countryside or some picturesque forest in Europe. But someone mentioned trains and unlimited money.
A nice indulgence then would be a luxury train line that navigates throughout most regions of the planet. Probably the most expensive ever done but should be possible. Could probably take years to travel the whole planet in maximum comfort. Wonderful.
Advantages of a vacation train would also be having other people around. One cart per person/family. Not everyone would be in it for the whole ride, so probably lots of passengers changing too. Could have wonderful parties or just group entertainment like movie nights.
You’re gross.
And how are you so sure it’s an adult?
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is CruchyRoll still the 'best' paid anime streaming service to use in the U.S.?3·4 months agoBetween Netflix and Hulu I don’t find myself lacking dubbed anime, so could just try those if you already have them. Isn’t Crunchy Roll almost entirely subbed stuff, anyways?
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your line of work and how's the pay like?1·4 months agoThat’s neat, thanks for answering.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your line of work and how's the pay like?1·4 months agoI’ve always wanted to do that but isn’t the pay usually like half of what you put? Do you usually help students or staff or both? Is it in the public school system or private?
Electric@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your line of work and how's the pay like?2·4 months agoWhat exactly is that? Microsoft 365 is Word, PowerPoint, etc., no? I didn’t know there was anything to administrate.
Electric@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•At least legalize all the drugs so I can numb my pain.33·4 months agoI find it funny that a lot of cyberpunk settings have rampant (usually legal) drug use because employers want you to perform at any cost but real life is a boring dystopia that demands worker suffering.
For me it was the original Modern Warfare 3. I played that campaign a lot as a kid, but didn’t have internet back then so no multiplayer and no one to discuss the game with. The story is dumbed down compared to the first two games but it was pure fun and cinematic, every mission was memorable to me.
Like I didn’t even know what the stock exchange was back then, I just thought it was awesome traveling through city ruins fighting invaders.
Also the survival mode was super fun too.
