  • My surgically repaired ankle starts to hurt when the barometric pressure drops which is a harbinger of thunderstorms here. The more severe the pain the more severe the weather.

It has done this since I was in my late 20s, so yeah I sound like an old man, but it was true even when I was young. Took me a few years to work out the connection between the ankle pain and the weather.

It is hurting a decent amount today and storms are predicted for the whole weekend here in north Texas.

You sound like you would enjoy the book, The Limits to Growth and its progress checking updates. The models suggest we’re in for a very bad time by 2040. The runup seems to have already begun. The neat thing is that the book doesn’t even include climate related catastrophe. They’re just bonus add on.

  • Bees aren’t the only arthropods having this problem, but for most of the other non-pollinators people seem to think "good less bugs to bother me. " I guess we should just give up on the survival of the food chain.

The news for insects is not entirely bad, emerald ash borers are finding the ability to survive in areas that were formerly too cold for them. This allows them to kill more trees turning them into kindling for lightning strikes and other fire starting events.

Who could have known that fucking with our habitat might have negative consequences for us?
