Well, then what happens when you make things so expensive that people can’t afford their consumer goods anymore?…

Cooking @lemmy.world•What’s a dish you love but absolutely refuse to cook yourself?
5·4 days agoI’ve made homemade sushi before… it’s actually really tasty and not too difficult. Hardest part is getting the rice right.

Cooking @lemmy.world•What’s a dish you make when you want something delicious but absolutely zero effort?
5·4 days agoSteak. It’s surprisingly low effort to get a really tasty one, just gotta know the process.
Salt and throw in a low temp oven with a temp probe alarm, then go and have fun. When it hits temp, pan sear for 60 per side and you got something tasty with like 3 min working time.
My mom just never made em good. Cook em up right (don’t overcook so they go all sulfury) and add some good seasoning (and onions), and you’ve got something really tasty!

3·4 days agoHDR, or Dolby Vision? From my research, anything less than the Panasonic UB820 either has missing features, or longevity issues.
Even still, 180 euro is well above the under $40 you can lots of DVD and even Standard Blu Ray
Personally, I grabbed a MakeMKV compatible UHD optical drive from eBay for $150, and just remux my discs to Plex… and then use CoreELEC on the Ugoos AM6B+ to ensure proper Dolby Vision and Lossless Audio support…. but I know that’s not exactly a mainstream option.

5·5 days agoEarly 2000s to mid 2010s movies shot digitally? Sure. Film shot movies, especially on 35mm or larger, absolutely look better in 4k. Especially when they’ve been restored from the negative and converted to HDR for a 4k release.
There’s a lot of older movies out there where the UHD Blu Ray is the definitive version to own, looking significantly better than any prior version (and will likely never look better).

Games@lemmy.world•Nintendo Switch 2 sales stumble over ChristmasEnglish
6·27 days agoIt offers the ability to play a lot of your Switch 1 games with much better performance. I’ve been really enjoying TOTK at 4k60. I think that was a draw for a lot of more hardcore Nintendo fans at the systems launch.
Also Donkey Kong is the spiritual successor to Mario Odyssey. If you liked that game you should definitely be into the new DK. I think Nintendo did a terrible job of messaging on that point, though.
That said, lack of content was the main point of the comment I was replying to. However, I think the huge price increase over Switch is equally as important at this time when people have less and less purchasing power.
