ADHD memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com•How do you cope with these things!?!English
27·9 days agoI realized how many extra steps I was going through to mask, and that the end product, behavior, was made off wildly wrong assumptions about what people or situations expected of me. And when I realized that, I wanted that fucking time and energy back. I found my own language to describe my own thoughts and feelings and just put that out there. It’s weird and vulnerable at first but my doctor seemed to understand. Meds made space in my brain to learn and unlearn different things. Stimulants helped get through the turmoil of chores. Anti-anxiety made the urge to please quieter. It’s my life, I want to feel good in it, as authentic as possible, as comfortable and natural. I didn’t know the color of my hair, had been dying it for 30 years, that was a nice surprise. Like they said, make the best of this, you should feel good. If something is hard, figure it out so it’s easier from here on forever, think if how good it will feel when the hard thing today is easy. Reduce sugar

3·4 months agoThere’s an audio series coming Star Trek: Khan, with a helluva cast. I really hope this format works, we could get so much new Trek with original actors voicing their parts. Could be animated later, or not, just so glad they’re playing and not shelving the IP

3·4 months agoI don’t read much but the posts got me too! I really want to read the Voyager trilogy that picks up right after they return to the Alpha Quadrant. But true to my millennial nature, I need it free and on my phone, so that’s my first project. Leaning towards Libby but I lost my library card, and since my ADHD won’t let me do the errand, I’ll probably have to torrent

The new Superman is David Corenswet, pronounced “Corn Sweat”. Movie came out two weeks ago, and it was the San Diego Comic Con last weekend. Been hearing his name aloud on a lot of my podcasts.

Tldr: they get everywhere and the population grows super fast, smaller bodies of water may have issues with the boom before the population reaches equilibrium. Not an expert, just from Ohio, Lake Erie anecdote below. And I don’t know if they displaced anything else to occupy this novel niche.
Zebra Mussels got into Lake Erie bunch a years ago and the population exploded so fast people were worried the colonies would block stuff, whole waterways by some estimates. But it turned out they were living off something in the water “that made the water cloudy and brown”, idk pollutants or an algae thing? So after a few years there was less of that food source and the Zebra Mussel population found an equilibrium. There were issues, something about getting them off boats, so people were at work to protect infrastructure. Now Lake Erie is clearer and they just found those 40 circles on the bottom, there were some great headlines a week or two back, but they’re just sinkholes, not alien structures, whomp whomp
