The pictures also only mean anything when you know what they are supposed to be showing. If you have no context what either shows then it took us 66 years to add some colour to pictures while the overall quality of the picture didn’t even increase by all that much.

I think it depends, as far as I know, the official catholic church aka Vatikan does not allow mutilation of any sorts, but regional variance applies. As in the US Catholics church does not forbid their members from circumcision and at times may encourage it because they think it is more hygienic.

It is therefore not a rare form of punishment, because it is a decision only a person can do who fulfils specific criteria, they must be

• 25 years old
• have had a through education on the implications of the procedure so that the decision is considered an ‘informed decision’
• the sexual desires and behaviour of the person must be significantly different from the average citizen
• these desires are highly likely causing the person to offend again (recidivism of the person must be very likely)

Besides, harsher sentences don’t lead to a reduction in offending, especially if it is true that there is a culture around sexual violence in Madagascar.

If I’d turn it into airplane mode I’d be uneasy. DnD no issues there because emergencies come through but in airplane mode? Nope if anything happens somewhere I won’t be able to be reached. And then dealing with that seems worse to me. So I have it automatically jump into DnD at 21.00 and go out of it with the alarm in the morning.
