Sometimes I like to think about what the world would look like if Columbus sank in the Atlantic. How long until another European sailed West?

I’ll be deep in the ground before I play along with that kind of shallow pandering.
That one should be for writers. Poets and authors and literature enthusiasts. Feign ignorance if anyone comments on the name.

We’re all humans of Earth too but I can only work on my little pocket of it. I’m no more responsible for what happens in Senegal than I am for Texas or Florida or Pennsylvania.

Respect your employee more, let them have a decent night’s sleep.

Why pick that border to respect? Do you have political influence in South Carolina? Was your state one of the handful that hasn’t voted the same way in every presidential election of the last forty years? Is your senator a Republican in a district that could have gone either way if you had personally mobilized a couple dozen non-voters?
Because I sure fucking don’t fit into any of those buckets so leave me out of your “we”.

Are you lumping yourself in with anti-vax South Carolinans with that “we”? Because I sure as fuck am not.
Twin Peaks (the 1990 series) is a pretty approachable Lynch experience (and very good) but you do have to get used to the slow pacing. The story builds and doubles back and wrinkles, sometimes erratically, but the strange drama and excellent characters really are worth experiencing. If you hate it you probably aren’t going to appreciate his really weird stuff either.
Or just jump straight into Eraserhead.

Timbuk2 isn’t as good as they used to be. If you can find a used one it’s worth it, I’ve had mine for like twenty years, but I wouldn’t gamble on one made in the last five years. (They closed all their physical stores and cut costs on manufacturing by moving offshore)
I’ll push back on “never hinted at” because way back at Bespin she was force-sensitive enough to find Luke under the city.
Redo the end of the movie, delay the release if need be. The plot can still move forward if Leia is propped up as a martyr. Just don’t have her fly back into the spaceship and everything up to that point can stay exactly the same.
Star Killer base could strike from across the galaxy
Star Wars has always played fast and loose with concepts like the laws of physics because they want space magic and the speed of light is for nerds but this is a particularly egregious one.
No billionaire is neurotypical, hoarding wealth on that level is abnormal.

There’s some movement in cities like New York and Seattle to elect 3rd parties to major positions but the problem isn’t really in urban areas. The Republican party is almost as much a religious sect as it is a political group and undoing the Christian Supremacy they’ve attached to is the kind of change that takes generations of education.

It is a shitty system but fixing it is even harder because Constitutional amendments need 38/50 states to agree.

Well it started with a genocidal colonial project. Then it started with the repression of class revolts like Bacon’s Rebellion. Then it started with the framing of a union of states that gave extra representation to rural slave-owners because their economic production was important. But it all started when those rural slave-owners wanted to make sure that new territorial expansions (remember, genocidal colonial project) also allowed slavery. Later it started when Lincoln was assassinated and his successor, Andrew Johnson, gave up on Reconstruction so the seditious slave-owning traitors weren’t held accountable for the sedition or slavery and were allowed back into seats of political power.

You’re right, every single voting adult in this country agreed on the current trajectory and aren’t being held captive by an electoral system designed to give unbalanced power to Southern slave states.

A Parliamentary system is pretty different from a Presidential one and we also don’t have a way to call a vote of no-confidence or otherwise change the government outside of the rigid election cycle, and Canada only really has two parties at the Federal level.
