  • I’ve thought of building my own cyberdeck on a couple of occassions, yet haven’t bit the bullet yet. I like the assembly video, soothing in a way

It was a lot of fun to build! I definitely learned a lot and would take a different approach on a future one, which I very well might do.

I’d probably go with a pelican case for a new one, get a beefy battery bank with pass through charging, and get a bigger screen.

The interface, the IO wrapper/panel, the heavy use of heat inserts, and extensive modeling is something I would not change.

I never played the original Garry’s Mod game, so I’ll make sure to take a good look at your project :)

Fair warning, it is a multi-player only game. And you’ll need to either all be on the same network or do port forwarding (port 8080).

I’ve loosely been debating posting about it more to get it more attention, and maybe make a discord for a centralized place for people to play it. But I’ve been to distracted on other projects lol.

Depending on the implementation, client side anticheat isn’t needed at all. Take the game Speedrunners for example. There is zero need for the server to do anything other than accept player inputs, process them, and return them to the clients.

So if coded correctly, where the server trusts nothing and does the math itself, it is impossible to cheat while having zero anticheat on the client.

And that’s without there being any additional cost.

  • I’ve been preparing to run a TTRPG called Death in Space for my friends, and I have poured dozens of hours into map making for one of the bigger locations of the setting. It’s called the Iron Ring, and it is a giant orbital structure built around a yellow moon called Inaro.

This screenshot of the map is approximately 150,000 square meters. I plan to have about 5 more locations this size.
