  • I’m sorry my comment is not deep enough to be his irrelevant to the topic but I gotta ask: Do you know a text editor which is just notepad but remembers the last session when you close it? I just need a scratchpad, even notepad++ is too fancy for my needs but that’s what I was using on windows. Now I use kate but it feels like I’m killing a mosquito with a rocket launcher when a book cover would do.

  • Professional (as in they earn money, not skill level) Xers fuck everything up. (here, X is an arbitrary verb or a brand name)

My anecdotes: Youtube was good before professional youtubers became a thing (systemic problem, people are not the issue but the environment which breeds them), now it’s attention economy and or one topic discussed for 50 minutes (a video explaining the same topic with the same intensity from 10 years ago is 2 minutes long)

Gamers were problematic but harmless, professional gamers caused betting pandemic (sponsored content).

Streamers were funny, professional streamers are sexy/deadly-sells-to-children.

I liked it when people were sharing stuff online because they were bored, and not because they were hungry.

I do know how a computer works though, at least the abstract idealized computer. I really hope I know because my last long term project was about machine learning models (not how to apply, but how to improve models), otherwise…

How it improves safety: Knowing the limits of the system you use is quite useful wouldn’t you agree? Knowing why brakes can fail, and in which conditions would be a lifesaver for example.

Maybe it’s ADHD dude, I learn what I use.

I really believe, if you cannot buy a “internal rocket launcher powered go machine” on your own, you shouldn’t have it.

I’m sick of people using dangerous technology without knowing anything about it. I’m not asking people to be able to build it… just know the gas laws at least.

  • It was quite interesting thank you. I hope you understand: the engagement was the engaging part and not the information (I could have googled it but I’d lose on the interaction.)

I often think about explaining stuff to aliens. And I really like it when others also try because it shows me what I’m taking for granted (it’s easier to critize others haha, can’t see my own mistakes as easily.)

Now I’m wondering if more is more for them? Maybe they use an inverted real line. You can say it’s X hot or you can say it’s 1/XXX cold. Without a comparison signal (2D), how do you say which direction is ++ and where is --?

Again, thank you for the enjoyable read!
