She was always an awful candidate, and the DNC made a HUGE fucking mistake supporting her. But, after Trump, libs would probably joke about her the way they joke about Al Gore. “If only they had won, we would all be at brunch!”

Instead, she pops up every year or two to punch left, remind everyone she sucks, and then does fuck all for anyone until next time.

There’s a fan project recutting One Piece like that, and Dragon Ball Z Kai was an official series.

I think anime has switched almost entirely to a seasonal format for related reasons. Filler just doesn’t serve a purpose if you don’t need to regularly fill a time slot on a live channel.

Kender, who were similar to halflings and I think are now a variant, were notorious for this. Their schtick is that they “borrow” things from their party members, not understanding that it’s theft. It gave assholes license to be assholes under the guise of roleplay, until the table inevitably needs a talk.

If the players are demanding wild results, especially if they’re the kind to roll unprompted, then sure.

But in my experience, it’s usually just a little flourish or a small bonus, which I think is fine.

And if the issue is that a nat 20 doesn’t guarantee success, technically, sure, but I’d be more annoyed being asked to make a pointless roll. I know there are reasons, like a hidden target number, or other characters being able to do it, but in general, I’d rather just hear “no” than go through a pointless check.

Let’s also throw in being a creep.

He provided a song for the 2001 animated film Osmosis Jones. This is an animated, family-friendly buddy-cop movie about a white blood cell and a cold pill teaming up to take down a virus. In the song, “Cool, Daddy Cool,” he explicitly states his attraction to underage girls and his fondness for statutory rape.

Like others have said, the rules are… bad. Especially the latest edition. A couple of the older editions are “favorites,” but still mixed bags, and lots of people just take the setting and use it in another system entirely.

There’s a Shadowrun actual play podcast called NeoScum that I loved (now concluded), and it began with “It’s like D&D mixed with Bladerunner!” and ended with “Fuck this, fuck Shadowrun, the universe rearranges itself so we can play a different game.” They even had a goofy recurring bit they would do whenever they had to stop play to look up rules or calculate something, which happened constantly. It’s also not a player issue, since they’ve switched to Call of Cthulhu for another story (Gutter) and just don’t have that problem.

Nobody hates Shadowrun more than the people who love Shadowrun. :P

He never actually apologized. He released a video saying he expressed himself poorly or whatever, then took it down anyway. He never said all the racist points he made were wrong.

It’s extremely funny that she ruined her own career, including a likely spin-off starring her, because she wouldn’t stop comparing the criticism of conservatives and their beliefs to the mass persecution and murder of Jews during the Holocaust.

It’s also extremely funny that she went on to make a movie with The Daily Wire, no one saw it, it got called woke for being an action movie starring a woman.

To top that off, it’s also extremely funny that The Daily Wire is FULL of people who couldn’t cut it in Hollywood, so they kept self-financing their own shitty movies, and are now in financial trouble.

Yeah, that moment hit hard. I expected someone to come in and sing his part, then… oh. Right. Of course. :(

My favorite part is when they complain about the overuse of the word “tankie,” then call literally every other kind of leftist a lib.

Hey, remember how right-wingers all laughed at What is a Woman? Reveling in their willful ignorance by laughing at anyone who dared to have a nuanced answer? Now they had a chance to define it for themselves, and immediately sat on their own (legally feminine) balls.

I’m not sure if they deleted it or I just can’t find it, but there was a post on the LW destination that said the mods talked about the near-universal, overwhelmingly negative response, and were split 2-2 on what to do: either cancel the plans, or keep going anyway. They only made this post after considering the aforementioned near-universal, overwhelmingly response a tiebreaker.

I think that really encapsulates the problem.

Paper straws were pushed by big corporate polluters to build a negative association with environmentalism.

Plastic straws are single-use plastics, but seem unexceptional by those standards. It’s almost a meme that they’re being singled out like they’re the single greatest source of plastic waste, or uniquely damaging to ocean life.

On top of that, there are way better ways of reducing straw usage. I’ve used bioplastics that seemed way better. You could redesign the lids. You can do the plastic bag thing and charge people a nickel for a straw or whatever. Hell, you could just not give straws with every drink, and plenty of people will just drink from their cups and glasses. Instead, we get paper straws, something that is so obviously a bad idea it sounds like a joke, or a metaphor for a useless invention. Often served with cups and lids made entirely out of plastic.

So you get a bunch of people who have their drinks kind of ruined by a frustrating straw. It’s a small thing, but it’s just a little nudge away from environmentalism. You build an association with disappointment and inconvenience. Maybe it doesn’t cause a big sway, but it makes people maybe a little more anti-environmentalist than they already were, or just less passionate about environmentalism.

Tankies: The word ‘tankie’ is meaningless because it gets overused by disingenuous people on the right.

1. If voting for either party gets you the same result, fascists wouldn’t be so focused on elections and trying so hard to take the vote away.

2. Withholding your vote doesn’t do anything. When has losing an election pushed either party left?

3. Voting doesn’t prevent you from engaging in other forms of direct action.

Both parties suck. People will needlessly suffer and die no matter who wins. But there are also people who will suffer and die under one party but not the other, and the same can’t be said the other way around. Our democracy is fundamentally flawed, but voting is a tool at our disposal, and we’re in no position to turn anything down.
