Another issue is that publically traded companies have a legal fiduciary responsibility to shareholders, but there is no legal responsibility to society or ethics. In fact, even laws supposedly designed to constrain businesses only carry fines for the business (and rarelyany responsibilityfor the individuals making the decisions), so it’s more of an ante to sit at the big boy’s table.

If you’re ever confused by how poorly people drive, sit somewhere with a lot of foot traffic for a bit and observe how so many people can’t even walk in a way that makes sense or without being a rude POS. Adding a vehicle to the equation only increases the stakes.

I know folks don’t want to hear this, but this anecdote is quite dubious. Big companies don’t move that quickly, especially in a business as complicated as health insurance. There are various plan levels and many individualized, specifically, for certain employers, as well as many elective medications (wegovy anyone?) for this to have been done in a couple of days. There’s no way these CEOs and executives said to just blanket approve all prescriptions. They would just pay a substantial amount for personal security, with company money, while maintaining their profits.

That’s fine if you like the appearance of “retro” appliances, but that is certainly not the only way to avoid smart devices. Most microwaves, toasters, etc sold are not smart devices.

Hell yeah, Ms. Showalter was the shit. It didn’t matter that you were 9, there were fitness standards to meet, and she’d be damned if any of us bastards were going to bring her numbers down. Depending on climate and soil type, you will need to dig a 3’wx6’lx3-6d hole. USFS land is great for this. Place nude cadaver in hole and coat with 10-15lbs of lye.
