  • tbf, i havent watched a video of him for years including this one. i just dont trust him at all.

maybe this video is pretty alright. idk. i’m not knowledgable enough on this particular topic either way. but he has touched on topics in the past where i’m knowledgable enough and it was really bad. just utter nonsense. not like with mkbhd where i just disagree with his opinions. its just sloppy garbage.

Nah, the last time i used insta was when it was mostly known for its infamous lomography filters. While this edit is intentionally horrible it proofs a point though. A subtle shift in the whitepoint to the warmer side and a few clicks to reduce the slight green tint in the potatoes would help wonders. Almost looks like flourescent light or photographed with a flash light. Either case wouldnt be ideal.

Anyway, i’m well aware of how hard it is to take good pics of food. I wouldnt have made that rather blunt and maybe hurtful comment if it was only about the presentation. Its mostly just a culture shock thing, i guess.

But enough of me and my “feelings”. If i ever comment or post again i will provide pics/recipes.

Same. Blocked .ml, blocked so many sublemmies, blocked certain topics and names and just a few users. With that its a pretty sweet experience. But when i visit logged out for one reason or another it gets ugly really fast.

Sometimes i get FOMO because a lot of .ml users post in a topic which i just cant see. But i made the mistake to unblock .ml twice and regretted it just in a few hours.

That poster a few weeks ago who said hes gonna block this community lives rentfree in my head. Because i get him. Nearly everytime i see a picture of this community posted in my feed it just absolutly disgusts me. Holy moly. It dont even know why? Its not high cuisine, but who cares? I’m sure its perfectly fine tasting self cooked food.
But something about it just breaks me.

Anyway. Keep it up. This is a nice little community and i could just post my own stuff if really cared. Feel free to delete this comment. But damn, i couldnt stay silent or just ignore it any longer. My poor european tastes are struggling to keep it together with these meals.

  • Most of the responses of the ministers(?) covered in the article seem to be pretty solid.

    But then:

Responding to the arguments, the government’s representative, minister for sport, tourism, civil society and youth, Stephanie Peacock MP, acknowledged consumer sentiment behind Stop Killing Games, but suggested there were no plans to amend UK law around the issue.

“The Government recognises the strength of feeling behind the campaign that led to the debate,” she said. “The petition attracted nearly 190,000 signatures. Similar campaigns, including a European Citizens’ Initiative, reached over a million signatures. There has been significant interest across the world.”

She continued: “At the same time, the Government also recognises the concerns from the video gaming industry about some of the campaign’s asks. Online video games are often dynamic, interactive services—not static products—and maintaining online services requires substantial investment over years or even decades.”

Peacock claimed that because modern video games were complex to develop and maintain, implementing plans for games after support had ended could be “extremely challenging” for companies and risk creating “harmful unintended consequences” for players.

Handing online servers over to consumers could carry commercial or legal risks, she said, in addition to safety concerns due to the removal of official company moderation.

On the subject of ownership, Peacock claimed that video games being licensed to consumers, rather than sold, was not a new phenomenon, and that “in the 1980s, tearing the wrapping on a box to a games cartridge was the way that gamers agreed to licensing terms.”

“Licensing video games is not, as some have suggested, a new and unfair business practice,” she claimed.

Yeah, full on corpo spin. Fuck her.

  • Theres a difference between ‘premium’ and ‘flagship’. The price alone is enough to call it premium (with some asterisks). But its just not flagship hardware. The SOC is more than enough for my needs. But performancewise its somewhere near a 3,5 year old flagship Snapdragon and is itself 2 years old. Also if you give a fuck about these specs because of gaming/emulation or misusing(loaded statement i know)it as a desktop substitute Mediatek SOCs still lag behind in support/compatibility to Qualcomm.

But then there are some unpremium telltales like that third backside macro camera with undisclosed megapixels. That instantly tells me that it probably sports a 2mp unuseable tiny sensor. Its only there to trick the consumer in believing that its more premium then it is. Its not an useful tele like on a Iphone Pro but the design suggest it.

They also dont specify what kind of USB connection they provide. So its most likely USB 2.0 with no displayout. Other things on their official spec sheet:
_Primary camera aperture | 2 Megapixel _ its just typo tbf but still, lmao.
Headphones jack | TYPE-C DAC digital headphone Just ‘no’ would be more honest but i just wouldnt mention it at all and everybody who cares gets it.

I’m all in with MudMans assertion that they should just own it instead of tiptoeing around the truth. As he said its a solid device with enough unique selling points. But sadly it feels(!) like they try to deceive me here and there with their messaging. Which is soooo unnecessary.

Edit: It kinda suggests to me(!) that it probably is a badge engineered phone of a chinese company which provides semi customizeable barebone devices. Just a guess by me(!). But that would be unpremium as fuck. And dont get at me how stupid that whole pReMiuM talk is. I’m fully aware of that. But thats the bullshit you need to deal with if you start using these terms. I didnt start it.

  • In real-world gaming, the card only managed to gain roughly 8-12% uplift over the stock SKU, showing the decoupling from the synthetic tests. It is very likely that the longer-term thermal stress from the prolonged gaming sessions is causing this lower performance increase, sustaining lower clocks compared to the relatively short-term load from synthetic benchmarks. The entire cause of this FPS increase is the enhanced power limit, which increases the non-XT 220 W board power to as much as 300 W, representing a roughly 36% power increase on its own. No additional cores/ROPs/TMUs are unlocked by flashing the XT BIOS. In fact, the entire process is very inefficient when comparing the power/performance of the stock non-XT SKU. However, if you are looking to extract the maximum performance from your GPU, this may be a viable option, provided you consider all the risks associated with running your GPU at its non-default settings. Sustained higher power settings can result in GPU degradation over time, and BIOS flashing is always a risky endeavor.

A lot to love about the phone tbh. 3,5mm jack, front facing stereo speakers, 120hz, alright cameras, 168g, smallish formfactor, sd card support. But 450€ for an entrylevel chipset with 8/128 and only acceptable support timeline is just rough. I’m aware that inflation is a thing, chip manufacturing got more expensive, us tariffs somehow affect the rest of the world and longer software support needs to be paid somehow. But that shitty chipset will perform worse than my phone i got 4 years ago for like 320€. Meh.

  • To me it looks like fashion lifestyle gadget and not a camera. Its a shitty digital camera combined with an integrated printer. I dont think it will last decades. Beginning with the integrated battery. All of which would be allright but ~330€ is a steep pricepoint. You could get very similar results by getting yourself a smartphone from the last ten years for free or very cheap and combine it with some apps and a canon selphy printer. Or get rid of the printer and get the pictures developed in the next shop. Unless the instant aspect is crucial for you ofcourse. With all that money you could buy even a cheap lomo camera and some film. Or a m3/4 Olympus/Panasonic camera from the last decade to play around with. They had funky lenses too. Idk how good the market for 3rd party batteries is though. idk lots of different opportunities at the same time to get creative and still be within the budget of that single fuji which on top has pretty expensive ongoing costs with that instant film.

That would be my thoughts on it.

I killed several really well going conversations in the past by mentioning that one of my hobbies is to play racing games with my plastic toywheel.

Like dont get wrong i’m fully aware that its not a sexy hobby. But if thats enough to tank an otherwise well going conversation for you then i’m not interested either way.
