it replaces the death penalty with a sentence of life imprisonment
I wonder if there’s an article out there which uses this as a headline, would be good for the “not the onion” communities
Interesting how she committed the offence in April and was hung in July of the same year. Different world back then, I suppose.

No, in fact it helps promote the fediverse in google search results
Did I stutter?
Wikipedia says it was 500k

Why does it show Stalin but also Chinese

The implication that there was a box directly outside the window, prepared for this exact scenario

Our recognition of your independence is when you got independence. Simple as.

Hasn’t “freedom” been the US’s schtick for a while? The US colonies existed before 1776 and gained independence in 1783

It’s also responsible for cool pictures of space and 9/11 jokes so it evens out

The story of the relationship between our two nations is one of extraordinary evolution, from overcoming conflict to forging one of the closest and most productive alliances the world has seen. Across defence and security, trade and investment, science, research, education, culture and the arts, the ties between the United Kingdom and the United States are unique and far-reaching. Together, we face the challenges of today, and the opportunities of tomorrow. As I said in my address to the joint Houses of Congress, our shared roots run deep, and they are still vital.
I am greatly encouraged by the enduring bond between our countries, and by the many connections between our peoples, which we were able to see once again, at first-hand, on our visit. Through centuries of shared challenge and achievement, our nations have built a relationship founded on friendship, trust and a belief in liberty, the rule of law and the dignity of all people.
As we look ahead to the next 250 years, I have no doubt we will continue to defend our shared values. I also hold a deep appreciation of our shared responsibility to protect the natural world, knowing the decisions we take today will determine whether our critical natural systems will not just maintain the harmony and essential diversity of Nature, but also continue to provide the foundation for our prosperity and our national security for both present and future generations.
The connection between our peoples is one that I trust will only grow stronger with time. As you mark this momentous occasion, my wife and I send our warmest good wishes to you and to the people of the United States of America, today and in the years ahead.

I don’t see the problem with a nation celebrating it’s supposed 250th birthday? (USA was actually born on the third of September 1783)

nooo, tiktok should prioritise american media like fox news and cnn!!! how will the USA continue to indoctrinate the UK now???

There are also a bunch of literal IRA and UVF terrorists who are free. They were released after the Good Friday Agreement.
Sure, soldiers should not be stooping to their level, but to act as if it is unfair just isn’t painting the whole picture. The general attitude towards the troubles has been “forgive and forget” and it has largely worked.

Actually quite a bit of trouble. There has been similar cases of people revealing Jon Venables’ new name. She was sentenced to 8 months in prison, albeit suspended for 15 months and given a £3k fine.

That’s because he was found not guilty

I presume he still cannot be named despite being name dropped in parliament by Colum Eastwood MP?

Alternating current affairs or direct current affairs?
Have they read the Talmud? Basically the only organised religious text that criticises Jesus
Anyway, Jews shouldn’t be able to tell Christians what to talk about or do within their respective religious communities. Same that Christians shouldn’t do the same to Jews, Atheists to Christians, Christians to atheists, etc…
