In my denomination/Church, we don’t permit these things for good reason. Because the Bible is the final authority. In fact, the Bible will always oppose popular society trends. If the Bible doesn’t offend you, you’re reading it wrong. That’s because of our sinful nature. So the Bible is anti racist and would have offended racists, same with greed, and then the cultural norms of today. It calls us to repent and convicts us of our sin. But at the same time, it’s not typically a Christian’s business what a non Christian does either (1 Corinthians 5:12-13) (Hence I have no issue with same-sex unions being legal on a civil/legal level)

lovely. I haven’t met many of these people (probably because the place I go to interact with Christians is Church) but from rare experiences, trying to discuss theology with these people is often quite difficult. There was someone online, albeit from a different country, who joined a Christian group chat and had a vitriolic hatred of muslims. We kept trying to correct him on his behaviour, and then he ended up leaving (whatever his version was of) Christianity because we weren’t letting him have a vitriolic hatred of muslims.

France and Ireland do make up a sizeable number. I do agree an individualised approach for the remaining ones would make more sense, but I don’t see a point in wasting time on people who were already in a safe country to begin with and paid a people smuggling gang to bring them across a border.

I can’t even tell if this comment is serious or not. Don’t know how any rational person would look at the Bible and think “ah yes, scientific textbook”.

Anyway, if I were going to respond to something in the rant you just posted, most texts at that time were anonymous. The Gospels are well attributed and there basically has been zero dispute over authorship of them until thousands of years later, which these scholars say stuff like “without ancient attribution there’s no way to know who wrote this” yeah… that’s how documents from that time work. The only thing that’s been disputed is the book of Hebrews.

These men were probably just trying to go for a physical healing- yet Jesus gave a much more important and profound spiritual healing.

We think that what we need is random scientific trivia or rules on slavery- in actuality, what we need is the forgiveness of sins.

Also, Christians don’t really disagree massively on salvation, it’s just the way and order of the processes. It’s been agreed that people are saved by grace - the Reformed model is that the grace and salvation produces good works. The Roman model is that grace produces the good works which contributes to the salvation IIRC. At the end of the day, it’s just semantics. Everyone agrees on the basic fundamentals.
