Banning computers as a whole, anywhere, is dumb. This way of thinking has similar shortcomings to the under-18 or under-16 social media bans. People eventually need to learn how to interact with computers, to be productive , social, access information, participate in democracy, etc We should instead focus on making social media and computing in general less exploitative and more democratic & open, not preventing children from having access to these things

Have you used the app in question? There’s animated hi res backgrounds that have to be loaded for diff locations, a live map, tons of detailed widgets and animations… 300MB seems reasonable to me. You might not want any of these things on a weather app, hence there are many to choose from out there ;)
