I’ve gotten this on lemmy.ml communities when replying to hexbear users even though those communities have no rules listed and I hadnt even commented anything that would violate boilerplate rules. What it really means is “this place is for tankies and any opposition will be silenced” because those people I replied to were freely allowed to make death threats against me.

Is this similar to Soulseek or Napster/Kazaa in the old days?

Govee seems to be the best off-the-shelf option for this as nobody else has really pursued this mostly hobbist market outside of custom installers like you mentioned.

I also think they should last quite a while since they’ll be mounted up in the soffit outside of any direct sun or rain exposure which is what’s bad for electronics.
