23·22 hours agoLinux is a great option nowadays especially if you go for one of the more mainstream distros. Otherwise Windows 11 IoT LTSC is the best of a bad lot.

3·2 days agoNot as far as I know, there’s no way to set custom DNS that I’ve found.
I’ve trained the algorithm that I don’t tolerate ads.
I rarely see ads on YouTube. I use FreeTube and yt-dlp pretty much exclusively for my YouTube viewing. I only see ads when I watch YouTube on my TV, and even then, only rarely. As soon as it shows me an ad, I close out of YouTube. Not skip ad, not go back, I close YouTube. I switch to audiobooks instead.
The algorithm wants to increase watch time, the only way it can do that is to not show me ads, so that’s what it does. It’s surprising how well it works.
Best I can do on my lunch take at work I’m afraid :)
6·3 days agoMake the police do some work for a change. The next time it happens, call 999 while it’s happening. Tell them honestly you’re concerned for his welfare. And keep doing it until some resolution happens. It might take a few 999 calls but eventually they’ll have to do something.

I know a few people who bought one and it’s just collecting dust on a shelf or in a box somewhere.

Correction, Winamp still does this today while using a fraction of the resources.
Though if you’re on Windows I’d recommend Xmplay instead, it plays basically everything.
I’m on Linux and I use VLC.
