My guess is detail and economy of scale. Airsoft guns commonly use the design of a really world gun either licensed or legally distanced so can be very close to reality in looks. Airsoft is also quite a popular hobby so many manufacturers are involved. You are also looking at an M4 variant which is the single most popular Airsoft gun in the world. There are literally hundreds of variants running from cheap manual springs to high pressure air tanks and costing thousands. Prop guns are more niche, they are detail orientated and don’t need to function the same way. Maybe they make a pop and eject a case from the side of the gun which is more complex to do mechanically than send a little plastic bb out the barrel. There are less people buying each type of prop gun though so it will cost comparably more per item even if it technically doesn’t do as much.
I think your comment is more well thought out than the article. Very nicely written.

I had so much fun with the first Kerbal game. One of my big achievements in gaming is an orbital docking. Nothing like doing actual rocket science to make you feel good. I hope NASA doesn’t get a rocket into orbit and realise they forgot their solar panels, battery or parachutes. Thank god for save files.
Depends on the crowd you’re out with but it is nice to see the younger generations drinking less. Got to be healthier for them.
Technical definition Drug- a substance which has an effect on the body. Ie literally everything you ingest.
Common parlance - a thing you take which has a medical or recreational effect. Ie paracetamol or weed.
Smoking (a drug) and alcohol (a drug) are common enough that they don’t count as drugs to most people so medics will usually ask smoking alcohol and drugs as 3 separate questions to cover all bases.
Socially acceptable drugs that are very common (tobacco and alcohol) Vs illicit drugs is usually the distinction being made, at least in the UK.

Does it get better? I watched the first 1 or two episodes but stopped because the first real decision the young black female hero makes for herself is to join up with a gang of criminals which felt really problematic to me.
Most suicides are spur of the moment things in execution. So the more steps it takes to complete suicide the more chances for reflection and regret and the less likely it gets carried out.
Compare the steps required from gun and overdose.
Gun: decide on firearm, retrieve from storage, load, shoot.
Drugs- decide on the drug of choice, find a source of the drug, purchase enough to complete suicide (tricky to judge with many drugs and expensive with things like heroin), often purchase alcohol as well, prepare drugs (if tablets pop them out of the packets or prepare the heroin), take drugs (if taking tablets probably going to be swallowing tablets for a good while).
In the UK we limit the amount of drugs you can buy at one time (like paracetamol, a common overdose choice) as the extra step of having to visit multiple shops or come back repeatedly reduces suicide rates.

A solid decade before Minecraft at least no idea where it came from.

I’ve only hallucinated when I was young and really feverish and sick. I was scared of “lava buckets coming up the stairs” according to my dad.
I work with people with delirium who commonly hallucinate, it’s often things like people or animals. Common things are small children and dogs for the nicest ones and spiders or aggressive people for the less nice ones. They also don’t realise they are hallucinating a lot of the time. Being unwell is hard.
It’s a great book but I dunno about boy meets girl. It’s more civilisation dies and is reborn a few thousand years later with the weird leftovers of the previous one.
Or did it have a romance I am forgetting?
Nice, that’s good to know. I know most gaming is not an issue due to proton these days.
I’ve got a hp reverb G2, which is windows mixed reality. I don’t think this one would work. The G2 is a pretty small user base compared to meta headsets.
I’ve got a hp reverb G2 which runs through windows mixed reality, which is helpfully not supported now anyway. It’s also one of the smallest user bases for vr I think. Have you heard anything about that headset? When I looked initially (ages ago to be fair) I couldn’t find much about it with Linux.
VR gaming support and I do play Helldivers 2 on occasion despite the ridiculous anticheat. My understanding is neither of those would work on Linux.
Though with proton and MS getting increasingly crap I am more and more tempted to make the switch.

Life outside of work. I’d love more time to spend with my wife and dog. Time to watch movies, play video games, hike, read, camp. Hell if I didn’t have to work so much I might actually do some strength training.

I love slay the princess, such a great game and a great story. A good one for video games as art.
This is a great list. A couple to add:
Necromunda is an FPS which plays like Titanfall 2 in 40k, so excellent moment to moment gameplay, some really cool levels and set pieces highly recommended.
The proper old school Fire Warrior which is an FPS I played probably 15 years ago no idea if it holds up today.
If you have VR Battle Sister was pretty fun nothing special but holding and using a bolt gun up close was awesome.
