Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Disney -- the most powerful entertainment corporation and also one of the most unforgiving IP owners on earth throws all of its lot onto OpenAI
10·3 days agoSo now does this mean you can just say it was ai generated and you can’t get sued by disney /s

News@lemmy.world•Is $140,000 the New Poverty Line for Americans?
47·5 days agoLike always, how far your money goes depends on multiple factors. 140k in the Midwest alone means you’re living comfortably. Like all bills paid off, a lot of extra money for leisure, etc.
If you have a family and live in the bay area, then it’s not that much. I personally wouldn’t put it at poverty, but it’d be somewhat close to being paycheck to paycheck (assuming you still need to pay mortgage and whatnot)
I just got recommended this funnily enough
Just train your cat to

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•College Students Furious When Their Course Is Taught by AI Instead of a Professor
10·18 days agoNot really equivalent
Companies have the jurisdiction to decide who to hire, and it’s painfully obvious if someone doesn’t know their own major
And if a degree doesn’t lead to career growth, it doesn’t really mean much unfortunately.
A college using ai to teach hundreds of students benefits none of the students, even the ones that genuinely want to learn
Just saw this fitting post

World News@lemmy.world•New Zealand says it’s going to eradicate feral catsEnglish
272·20 days agoNew zealand is extremely prone because its home to flightless birds and other similar species that never grew up against land predators of this nature. That’s why cats and even rats are especially dangerous. These flightless birds have no real way of protecting their young and even themselves.
It’s sad for cats because we see them as companions and pets, but new zealand holds a lot of critically endangered species that simply cannot exist anywhere else

World News@lemmy.world•New Zealand says it’s going to eradicate feral catsEnglish
251·20 days agoI don’t think just spaying is enough. It’d have to be capture or even worst case euthanize. Leaving cats and any nonnative predator is especially harsh on local species each second they are in the wild because new zealand is one of the few places with flightless birds like the kakapo, which are critically endangered (just one step away from being extinct in the wild)
