If you look at the Dem platform, what they accomplish in some states with enough majority, and federal laws that the majority still likes today, it’s confounding they lose so much. They rarely have enough federal majority for long enough to make the changes, or laws are repealed a few years later when maga wins again and destroy progress.

Yes, Dems support equality for all, so for too many people that overrides all the other stuff they do agree with.
