I am am continuing to extend the life of my 6 years old laptop for as long as possible, hopefully I will be able to buy a framework when it does eventually die on me. (It’s a semi-shitty clevo model but I recently replaced the battery and it’s kind of decent again)

I haven’t been that excited about the Framework laptops, because despite liking expandability and modularity, the actual modules offered for expansion didn’t really provide functionality that I’d actually wanted to swap in. A larger battery, a trackpad with physical buttons, those are things that I would want to upgrade. I just didn’t need an LED matrix on the side of my keyboard, and the external ports on most laptops were at least reasonable.

But being able to add more M.2 slots is legitimately something that I could use.

for the Laptop 13 they released a slightly larger battery a while ago. i just guess it’s not too easy to get the best manufacturing and technology deals as such a small company

It would be nice if they would make a module that has 120 Gbps USB4 or Oculink for connecting high end external GPUs.

Last I heard, there was a community effort designing an 8xPCIe4 (yes, that’s a thing) Occulink adaptor, love to hear if anyone’s got any info on it.

That said, M2 <-> Occulink adaptors abound, so, with some pretty trivial hacking this could support 2xeGPUs!
