TLDR: Automakers want a piece of the data harvesting pie. But don’t worry they assure us it’s just to improve their products. You know, like the infotainment they’re building, that they wouldn’t need to build if they kept phone integration.

I for one applaud the automakers for their bravery in harvesting our data themselves in order to improve our products!

no. i just want my car to have it’s own working infotainment system and i am myself against android auto or to have to rely on that. would there be an open standard for an open infotainment system that would be something else. in my case i also trust the manufacturer more than google. so i am against “they should stop making infotainment systems we have AA and CarPlay”

    I got this great clip:

and the MagSafe iPhone mount that screws into it.

No need for the infotainment screen. Just Bluetooth audio for music.

I just 3D printed a phone holder that slots into a CD player (yeah I have that old car). So now that I have a phone there it looks like it’s an infotainment screen. Plus it’s silky smooth unlike slow ass infotainment systems. Powered by AIMP player and HERE WeGo maps.
