Yeah renting a luxury car would be a weird choice, but nothing described is that weird from a practical sense.
Honestly if a job is having you use your personal vehicle and isn’t reimbursing you you shouldn’t do it.
Also if you don’t allow basic reimbursement then you severely limit the ability for a normal person to run for office. Making it much easier for a wealthy person to run comparatively
Getting paid mileage is normal for a lot of corporate jobs. Not my job these days, but many jobs.
