Wanna share what @mkbhd said. He got it from @mrwhosetheboss. If 📱 is hot to the touch –

  1. Much thermal energy is moved from the system-on-a-chip (soc) to 📱’s sides and back. Then 📱’s sides and back are touching the lower-🌡️ air and the lower-🌡️ hand. Part of the design is that the air and 🖐️ will lower 🌡️ of the sides and the back.

  2. Or, the soc is overheating and 📱 is 👎 at moving thermal energy away from the soc.

  3. Or extreme overheating. 📱 is moving much thermal energy away from the soc but it isn’t enough to normalize the soc’s 🌡️.

The idea can be applied to 💻 and 🖥️. if 💻 or the desktop’s case is blowing notably high-🌡️ air –

  1. great cooling system (fans, heat pipes, vapor chambers)

  2. or extreme overheating (the cooling system is doing its best but not enough)

So if your phone is hot it could be:

    • working as intended,
    • working as intended but bad at it,
    • or working as intended but working really hard right now.

How is this, in any way, useful information?

To quote a famous line from Billy Madison: “Everyone is this room is now dumber for having listened to it.”
