When MapQuest’s general manager woke up in Toronto on Thursday morning, the Texan visiting for a conference knew he couldn’t leave without visiting one place.
I actually live in portugal, and when I checked google maps it was called Lake America so it’s not just in America that it says that. Anyway I replaced it with mapquest but tbh MQ isn’t super useful in my city. Good thing I know the place well enough already I guess.
Some people in Canada are saying that Google and Apple maps are listing it as Lake America where others like myself see Lake Ontario. Seems to be random.
What locale is your phone on? en-US? Because on en-UK I get Lake Ontario with America in parentheses on both Google maps and Apple maps. I suspect if you’re on en-US you get the official name in use in the US.

In Canada here. For me it’s still Lake Ontario for both Google and Apple maps.

Probably depends where your IP is registered from.
Might depend on their language settings. Like if they have “English - US” and “English -UK”, then the later may get the correct naming.
Good thing Apple sold out their customers.

Oh like, it might be based on language settings rather than physical location? Huh. But yea my phone is indeed set to english.
