A federal appellate court ruled last week that Oregon may house trans women inmates in men’s prisons, overturning a lower court’s ruling earlier this year.
The three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals consisted exclusively of Donald Trump appointees. They voted unanimously to overturn an April ruling from U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark D. Clarke ordering the Oregon Department of Corrections to assume that trans women prisoners should be housed in women’s prisons, and then assess individual cases to confirm that placement, not the other way around.
The US is straight up in the middle of a trans genocide and most cis people hardly seem to be bothered by it. They want us dead and will stop at nothing to accomplish that. They won’t stop with us either.
I fled the US immediately after Trump got elected because of the threat it posed to me as a trans latina immigrant. I cannot count the number of people who told me I was overreacting.

I don’t understand how the article can claim middle of a genocide when it’s just reviewing laws and policies. A genocide is when killing happens no? Where are those statistics?

Killing people in camps is only one definition. The ones that apply here are #2 and #3 and to a degree #5 with states like Florida looking to take trans kids away from supportive parents
Ok then that makes sense I’ve only heard it in killing terms I didn’t know there was a less severe use of the word. Which is kind of odd but here we are.
It isnt really any less severe… Less violent, maybe but not necessarily.
Native Americans have spent 500 years being genocided. Some of that was in extermination campaigns but a LOT of kidnapping and forced acculturation into “the white mans world” accomplishes the same goal of eradication of a culture or ethnic group.
There’s a long history of forced sterilization in the american black community as well, not to mention that we have a record of arresting black men and throwing them in prison for the crime of being black and poor.
All of these are different methods of genocide.
I understand but I feel like most of the time when people hear the trans community is being genocided everyone thinks it’s an overreaction because they immediately think of the killing part and concentration camps that’s all I’m saying.

There is an association that makes sense to people, but that association isnt reflective of what genocide actually is. Its a specific example, and because that specific example isnt 1:1 it’s misunderstood.
Nuance left the party around the time folks started thinking you could carry on a conversation with 144 characters or fewer, not that it was in the limelight before then either.
I do not have a solution for the interaction between brain and mouth, or mouth and brain, sadly.
Oh yeah social media has ruined the ability of people to actually converse and have conversations and debate. Its sad.
