I have watched all the Marvel movies and a lot of the DC ones too. Me and my siblings would like to watch something fresh, and I would love to explore some movies that aren’t super U.S.-centric (American military this, CIA/FBI that, it gets kind of old)
Are there any superhero franchises that are not American , or at least ones that aren’t borderline propaganda for the U.S. military complex?
I would prefer English language options, but anything with good subtitles will work (it works for anime!)
edit: Amended the post, propaganda for the military is a bit of an exaggeration, given that the movies do sometimes criticise the U.S. army.
Guardians (2017). Russian, and weird as hell.
There’s a bunch of Ultraman movies of varying quality and connectedness. Likewise with Toho Godzilla which is more superhero than Kaiju at a certain point. If you haven’t seen them I maintain that the DC Animated Universe is superior to the MCU and DC. Finally there’s Invincible and Harley Quinn which are both at least parodying modern superheroes

Hell yeah! We grew up with Cartoon Network though, so it’s not exactly fresh for us. Powerpuff Girls is definitely a good watch though, one of the better children’s TV series.
Teen Titans Go makes fun of the DC universe pretty hard.
What other superhero show makes episodes educating kids on college admissions, property taxes etc, and STILL be hilarious, irreverant and full of songs about pies, waffles and pain?

Yes I know it’s DC, but this film in particular is British.
My Hero Academia - Its a tv show, so not a movie, but is based in a world where everyone has powers and focuses on one of the schools that trains super heroes.
Hanuman and Bahubali
This is really stretching it, but Extraordinary? None of the characters are heroes, and everyone in the world has superpowers, so none of it is really super anymore. Oh, and the main character has no power whatsoever, which makes it a comedy. 😄 Also, it’s a TV series, not a movie franchise. At least it takes place in the UK, so at least there’s that. Also, Wikipedia calls it a superhero comedy, so I guess it counts…
