I rarely drink or buy milk but I like the 3.8% sometimes for me and my cats. They only get a whisker so to speak
I like to add whipped cream or some of that 10% stuff to get the fat % up
On the non-milk side, this coconut milk is amazing

Ripple Pea Milk is great too, very smooth and somewhat satiating

At this very moment i’m drinking a cup of milk. Whole (somewhere between 3.4 - 6%), pasteurized.
Whered you buy it
3.8% organic. I would love to buy free range milk (as I used to) but the one they’re selling here tastes like it’s been contaminated somehow.
Whole milk for me because the low fat 1.5% version tastes like sulfur to me. But even with 3.5% it’s still very slightly noticeable, so I don’t drink milk often
Fartmilk
Whole milk, or no milk
What % is whole? Is it pasteurized?
I’m guessing you’re not from the states because that’s a very common term in the U.S.
Whole milk has nothing to do with pasteurization, although when you see milk on the store shelves in the US, it’s typically going to be pasteurized.
I don’t think it’s usually advertised terribly, clearly, with percentages, but my memory is that it’s 3.25 or above milkfat by weight.
I want to say the ratios are more like what you would find in a natural milk anyway, but I don’t recall for certain if that’s correct.
In the end, all milk is mostly water, but skim and 1% to me typically taste more like water. The extra fat makes it much richer.
Us Canucks call it Homo (homogenized) milk. No that’s not a reference to the sexual orientation of the cow. In most of the world “Whole” milk is what Americans call “Raw milk.”
Never called, nor heard whole milk called raw milk in my life. Raw milk is what we call unpasteurized milk. Or are you saying that most of the world calls unpasteurized milk, “whole milk”?
Yeah, here we would just call that unpasteurized.
It was a natural difference in terminologies.
Almond or oat, usually. Unsweetened and no added flavours like vanilla or whatever.
Wish I could find oatmilk that doesnt become sickly sweet after a few cups of it. I really like the texture and taste but milk under no circumstances should taste sweet or vanilla.
Whole (3.5%) powdered milk because I need it to last for a month or two at a time.
I saw that at Costco, is it good?
I think it is! Couldn’t stand the skim stuff but this one has been lovely in granola and when cooking.

Will have to snipe some next time
I am trying to eat more vegan, but half & half in my chai is turning out to be a difficult vice to give up.
Try the coconut milk i showed or straight up coconut cream if you want it even creamier, i think you’ll be pleasantly surprised
Its good shit
I was not prepared for the price difference. The coconut milk was close in price to my half and half, but the coco cream was about 3 times as much.
Edit double checked the receipt: the coconut milk is 80 cents more, the cream is 5 times as much.
Yeah, the cream is really good shit but it can be pricey, best to stock up when its on sale or see if Costco has a deal for it
Ive definitely got it at Costco before and my gut says the price was more reasonable in bulk than buying a la carte in a regular grocery store. Also try an ethnic grocery store too, they might have a better source
We have 1 grocery store in town (and a Walmart). Next time I am in the city I will check Costco and try to get to the Indian grocery, or the Asian market.
Yeah, Costco and the asian market are probably your best bet. Might even be on their site too altho i have no experience buying actual grocery stuff online there, just other bigger non-food stuff
Whole milk or 2%, I’m not picky! Usually I only drink milk while pregnant or breastfeeding because I need the hydration and the calories, so it’s often consumed as chocolate milk! Any other time in my life it’s usually only consumed in recipes, cereal, or as foam over coffee.
I’m lactose-intolerant, so I use lactose-free 0% fat milk for my coffee. For some reason 0 fat tastes so much better than the % reduced variants to me. I also use almond milk for making home-made milk tea. I’ve tried pea milk too. And now I’m trying cashew milk.
Try the coconut milk by Vita-Coco (added a pic in the post text), its the closest thing to non-milk milk I’ve ever tasted. Very creamy and perfect amount of sweetness tho its no sugar added. Coconut cream is fantastic, its nice over frozen fruit too, makes a nice little easy sorbet
It kinda reminds me of the leftover milk after you’ve eaten all the cereal.
2% because anything less taste like water in my coffee.
It is still ~70 calories for half a cup tho.
