This is a very broad question. But broadly, I think if you’re an artist, you probably got where you are by sharing your point of view with your audience in an authentic way. If you’re going to let fear of disapproval stop you from doing that, you might as well quit anyway.

      your point of view

      Yes.

But being really really good at acting or playing music does not necessarily translate to having a particularly wise or well-informed view on moral philosophy, social science, or geopolitics.

Well of course not. But everyone has an opinion and if they want to express it then so be it! If you’re a celebrity I can’t even imagine what that’s like. But I respect if people say how they truly feel if it’s heartfelt regardless - but I guess that’s also the catch 22 too. If you’re a celebrity you might need to carefully craft your public opinions since the wrong thing could put you in the baddie category.

We elect world leaders who don’t know anything about any of those things. Why shouldn’t a singer or actor use their voice, too? At least they had the discipline to learn a craft.

Good leaders surround themselves with intelligent experts of diverse opinions and try to make an informed decision.

Some of us try to elect leaders like that. Others… go for reality tv actors
