    I drink coffee. Coffee is a hot beverage. When I drink coffee, I want to smoke a cigarette. I am not the only person like this.

    So I wonder if there is a selection bias towards people who smoke.

      It’s not about “hot beverage” vs “cold beverge” - the Japanese study that I linked showed that people who drank their tea very hot got more oesophageal cancer than those who drank it at a moderate temperature. Same with this newer study: “Consumption of drinks at a ‘very hot’ versus ‘warm’ temperature was associated with a threefold greater SCC risk but not with AC risk, after adjustment for consumption frequency”
