Original Title: A/I shuts down - Stay human.
Editorialised because most people wouldn’t associate A/I with Autistici/Inventati.
Terrifying.
No courts, no appeals, just a signature from an unaccountable maniac and you’re done.
They control the money
Damn, so sad, we are really living the worst timeline…
This is depressing
I was truly hoping they’d figure out a way to stay up. It’s kinda terrifying however that the most powerful nation in the world can simply turn the “eye of sauron” on you without even a court judgement or anything, and ruin your life anywhere in the world. I can’t blame them for taking this route. If the whole fucking US Empire targeted our little instance as a goddamn terrorist organization, I’d probably do the same as well.
Flow like water. I hope the people running it will distribute to new orgs and run things under a thousand new names.
What makes you think they haven’t flagged everyone associated with the instance as terrorists?
They’ve made it clear that every antifascist is a terrorist, and an enemy of the US gov. That’s not gonna change because you take down a server.
Thank you to Autistici/Inventati for the 25 years of public service. Death to
and all oppressors.Could someone point me to how they run their service ? I mean technically. I am also interested in what harship they faced and how they responded. Do they have docs ? I may or may not know some peoples that loves open source and this kind of infrastructure ;)
Plus it would be a waste to loose all that work. Some folks are interested?

Old style ISP setup of sorts. Shouldn’t be quantum science to replicate on most Unixes. Maybe even use Unix users themselves as a unit to wire everything up with SMTP and WebDAV. And a tiny bit of CGI in basically any programming language whatsoever to do the request forms (requests generate a long string of characters in a link you are supposed to keep and check from time to time). Apart from technical, also the privacy policy and a few hopes and dreams are keeping it together.
They haven’t migrated GitLab to inventati.org when the autistici domain got (auto?)nuked, so to see what stuff they forked you gotta do
nslookup git.inventati.orgthen add the addresses to your OS hosts file:2a01:4f8:231:40ae::198 git.autistici.org 88.99.75.198 git.autistici.orgTurn off proxies in your browser and you should be good to go. For now
