I’d expand that to American movie plots that are about the normalised urge to lay your hands on a million bucks that are potentially available for one reason or another.
Suddenly half of US American movies (and many others) are like that. And not just from recent decades.
The first few time I was like: why does the movie assume that this is a primal urge, almost like sex?
Why is it presumed that everybody wants to lay their hands on that money? Why is shrugging and saying “meh, I don’t care about money that much” never an option?
Now I just accept that this is a deep-seated part of US American culture.
As an American, I’m held back by a lack of money. Everything from raising a family to.owning a home to finishing college has a financial tool booth I can’t afford to cross. A million dollars would be a life changing sum, it’s nit just for blinging out. In fact, I wouldn’t do that at all
