Any countries change the names of places that are not in their country?

      Simple example.

Brussel (nl) Brussels (en) Bruxelles (fr)

This is just about language, but place names are regional. Drumphf can decide to rename Brussels to “shithole” if he likes, in Belgium it will still be Brussels.

Sure but that’s just spelling for different languages. Not the same as one English speaking country lets say America changing something in another countries name.

I thought I’d look it up if this kind of thing happened more often. And oh my!

China is renaming a lot of foreign places, but other countries have done as well (e.g. Egypt, Philippins, Indonesia). Nothing compared with the onslaught China is waging at the moment though.
