Since Android is becoming increasingly more locked down and slopped, I’m jumping ship.
Ordered it in the First batch. They said that the Android App Support is going to be subscription-free for this one, so that’s a plus I guess. Also, calls and texts will be the first for me to try. If they don’t work, then it will be a return.
edit 18.08: ok, so phone arrived a few days ago and calls work, so no return from me (at least now). But there are some odd things that I still need to see how to fix and some odd design decision. I cannot write a full in-depth review about this, but the idea is that - if you have access to a custom ROM for your phone try that instead. Do try this however if you’re curious to check another platform that’s not Android or iOS and it helps you get the job done in 2026. The phone itself is great, I haven’t encountered any lag whatsoever basically, but the system does have some friction and you will miss a bit of stuff even from ungoogled Android (i.e.: widgets). YMMV.
