Funny enough, we do have old Jimmy’s, but they were from GMC (just rebadged Chevy blazers). Probably why Suzuki couldn’t use the name in the states.

        I see the issue!

The GMC Jimmy was a rebadged Chevy Blazer, a sport utility vehicle.

The Suzuki Jimny is a tiny little SUV that is used for embarassing overconfident Wrangler owners.

The Jimmy we had in the US, made by GMC. The Jimny, note the spelling, was made by Suzuki amd sold overseas.

Oh no, I’m aware (and really want a Suzuki jimny here, much better than a jeep in a similar form factor as you noted), but Jimmy and Jimny sound so similar that I would just cause confusion between the two brands, which is why I figured that would be why they didn’t use the name.
