    they are lazy and entitled.

and they think people who cook are assholes.

very few people i meet cook on a daily basis. almost everyone where i live is doordashing or doing delivery mealboxes or getting pre-made stuff from the grocery store. and constantly complaining how broke they are.

like anytime i go on a date the past few years, and say i like to cook, it’s fun. the other person thinks i’m mentally ill or some kind of elitist asshole for saying that.

has nothing to do with being lazy or entitled.

despite all the rugged individualist propaganda, the anti-intellectualism of our culture hinders anyone from attempting anything new and we act like anyone who does is some kind of wizard or supergenius; like with everything else, we act like cooking a decent meal with flavor is best left to the experts.

you can go on youtube–a platform where thousands of expert chefs are spilling their secrets in an easy to follow, step-by-step manner–and easily learn to cook decent food.

but people don’t. just like they don’t learn how to do basic tech shit, like install an OS.

right, everyone is just helpless victims who lack any/all agency for their own choices.

and that isn’t a choice they make at all…

It’s not useful to look at a systemic problem and go “Well obviously those are just dumb bad no good individuals and nothing can be done”.

systematic problems come from the choices of individuals.

if we all act like assholes being an asshole becomes systematic.

if you want to stop people from being assholes, you’ve got to start with yourself.

systematic problems come from the choices of individuals.

You can’t fix a systemic problem by just saying “stop being assholes”, you can fix a systemic problem by fixing the systemic issue. For example, increasing rent and lowering wages increases homelessness. Telling people to work harder doesn’t decrease homelessness, building rent-controlled housing and increasing minimum wage does.

Weird. I don’t have any issues with my food, being an asshole, or lots of other common problems people have.

because i choose not to participate in the stupid shit other people do that makes their lives miserable. eat right, exercise, don’t waste your money on stupid shit, and you too, might enjoy life instead of being miserable all the time.

when my rent goes up… I ask for a raise. or change jobs and then usually my company counter-offers.

                weird how that works!

you improve society by improving yourself.

I choose to not be one of the 66% of Americans that are overweight/obese, I choose have money rather than be in debt, and etc. I could have not made these choices. Tomorrow I can stop working out ever again and start spending all my money ratting shitty food that will make me fat, sad, and miserable all the time. I should do that, and then sit around telling everyone how ‘society’ made me do it!! That will be so much better than being a responsible functional person!

Other folks make other choices. Seen many of my friends over the years become fat indebted miserable people, and I then choose to no longer socialize with them.

Nobody forced them to eat shitty food, spend all they money on stupid crap, and then never take responsibility for their choices.

Who exactly forced my friends to make those choices for them? who forced them to say, spend $15,000 traveling per year, rather than saving it in their bank account? as far as i can tell nobody did. they did that to themselves. not to mention the handful who decided drugs and crime were better than going to college and getting a job, because ‘work is too hard’ and getting high and stealing shit is ‘easy’. until you get caught, of course.

and thus they become yet another statistic of ‘society’. but hey, fuck me right, i just like contribute to my community with taxes, volunteer work, and participating in local politics. What a piece of shit human being I am! clearly I should stop being such an awful selfish prick, and I should just get fat, sit around and whine about the government being mean to me, and do nothing to make the world a better place, because what is the point of ever making an effort in life when you can make none and complain and then die of heart disease at 50.

life tip man. pay off your debts and get your shit together. nobody is going to do it for you. it’s your choice to improve yourself and your world, or to sit around being a whiny entitled cunt of a human being. I understand though, that the latter options is far more popular and makes you more friends, because that’s certainly what most folks choose to do. mean while looking down and harassing good hard working folks because they are so sad, bitter, and jealous.
