I speculate that passionate members of almost any group think their group is more intelligent, more moral, and generally better all-around human beings than members of the Evil group they despise. I mean, being right automatically means you must be smarter, right? And friendly sources are always credible, cuz my side (the Good side) wouldn’t lie to me, right?
All true, but the level of credulity is staggering with these authoritarian thinkers, and seem unmatched anywhere else.
For example, it would be very hard for anyone to convince someone of something obviously verifiably false like the sky is actually red. However, if JD Vance claimed that there was a massive “blue sky hoax” perpetuated by George Soros and his ANTIFA thugs, I am quite sure that many Americans would be repeating that tomorrow. I can’t imagine, say, a Unitarian priest convincing their parishioners of that.
