A recent poll by the Genial/Quaest institute, published this Thursday, indicates that 58% of the Brazilian population fears that the United States could carry out an intervention in Brazil similar to the one carried out in Venezuela , where US forces perpetrated an aggression that culminated in the kidnapping of the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, in addition to leaving more than a hundred people dead .

The institution posed the following question to the sample: "Following the actions of the United States in Venezuela, are you afraid that something similar could happen in Brazil soon? "

The fear of a possible attack is more pronounced among those who identify with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva: 74% of voters aligned with the president said they feared a similar action . Even 57% of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro expressed this concern.

The survey also explored Brazilians’ perceptions of the US military action against Venezuela. 46% of respondents considered the operation justified , while 39% disapproved and 15% did not express a clear opinion.

This result highlights the impact of mainstream media and social networks on shaping public opinion, as large segments of the population receive fragmented or distorted information. Constant exposure to incomplete or false narratives contributes to normalizing Washington’s interventionist actions and obscuring the history of US interventions against other countries.

When asked about the stance Brazil should take in these types of situations, the majority leaned toward caution. 66% believed the country should remain neutral , while 18% thought Brazil should support the US. Only 10% opposed US actions , and the remaining 6% did not know how to respond.

The evaluation of the Brazilian government’s response to the incident also yielded a divided result: 51% of respondents considered the Executive’s stance to be wrong , while 37% considered it correct . 12% did not express an opinion.

According to the poll, 40% of respondents did not share the fear of US aggression , while the remaining 2% did not know or preferred not to answer the question.

I really hope they take a sense of urgency and start organizing countermeasures because the US got away with it with barely any international backlash and they will strike again until they have a bunch of Noboas in all of latin america.

I really hope Brazilian comrades mobilize and actually work something through. Otherwise, they will face demise to the level that we are seeing in Argentina.

The question: “Would you say you approve or disapprove of the US military action in Venezuela?”

    Approval: 46%.
    Disapprove: 39%.
    Don’t know/No answer: 15%.
