Yup, like Mattias Desmet pointed out in his book The Psychology of Totalitarianism, unchallenged, it gets worse and worse. So challenge it at every opportunity. Talk to them. Let them see other perspectives. It’ll plant seeds that eventually short circuit the totalitarianised psyche, and they’ll no longer be able to carry on seeing any and all atrocities as necessary virtues.

so what do you propose can help mend this situation?

        obviously not do nothing.

meet force with force? no, that wont likely work either, since that’s either thwarted easily or creates enough irritation to them to double down all the worse into totalitarian insanity. … which they even welcome, and seek to provoke, to give them more excuse to be worse, painting the effort as a “problem” to which they can evoke the “reaction” clamouring all the more for their “solution”

so if not planting seeds of better wisdom, and helping them get out of totalitarianised psyche,

        what’s your proposal?
