Remember when Trump was talking about annexing Canada and for a brief while Canadians were telling people from the global South “Hello fellow resistance!” fellow-kids

Do they have anything to say right now or are they hoping it’ll never be them next?

It’s definitely the latter. Carney has his tongue as far up Trump’s ass as it will go, and the hope here is to just wait Trump out and then expect everything to go back to the way it was before. Liberals are utterly incapable of understanding that the world has changed, they think Trump is just an aberration they need to wait out.

That’s about what I’m observing as well, yes. It’s business as usual here. Every deluded fool in office definitely thinks that they can just hold their breath until our heroes the democrats get into the White House and clean up the mess up for them. And the actual citizenry has become so numb to watching imperialist violence happen to non-white countries on TV that none of them seem to see the boomerang coming. They’re election-brained so they all let go of the anti-yankee animosity the SECOND the election was over. It’s really fascinating just how quickly the eLbOwS uP shit ended.

I myself think that because our military has been welded to theirs since 1945, they won’t need to invade or anything, just show up in Ottawa and dictate demands. And parliament will pass the North American Security Compact Act or whatever they’ll call it and give them absolutely everything they want (including the ability to freely send goons onto Canadian soil to deal with “security threats”) and leave us all penniless. And then, possibly, they will awaken to the fact that Canadian Sovereignty was only ever just a buzzword deployed during election season or whenever we need to fulfill our duties as handmaiden to the emperor.

Oh yeah, Canada is basically a colony already for all intents and purposes. We don’t have any independent military here, and our political class is closely aligned with the oligarchs south of the border. In fact, I highly doubt the US would actually need to take any military action. The most likely scenario is that they’re going to exploit tension growing out of collapsing standard of living, and just do a political takeover.

I popped in on r/CanadaLeft and I’m not gonna bother posting screenshots cuz I think that kind of dunking is a bit tacky and unproductive, but based on what I’m seeing it will be very very easy for them to (further) puppeteer the country by simply framing it as “Trump’s Fanboy Wins Election”.
It’s Limited Hang, just truthful and appealing enough of a narrative for radlibs to buy into, but distracting enough to make it seem like something that can be solved with more elections and more posting about elections. There are definitely users there who are on the level enough to acknowledge what we’ve already talked about here but good lord are there a ton of people there who need to come to jesus about what Canada actually is and not what they imagine it to be. And maybe learn about some history every once in a while that doesn’t come from a Heritage Minute, goddamn.

It’s hard for people to accept that they live under the dictatorship of capital and there’s no action they can take within the rules of the system that will actually be meaningful. It’s a hard pill to swallow when you’ve been conditioned all your life that you live in a democracy and all you have to do is vote harder if you don’t like what’s happening. I expect that people will cling on to that for a while yet.

Canada’s response to the US bombing Venezuela was as lukewarm as one can get, stating that they hate Maduro’s “criminal regime” and boasting about sanctions while also saying that he US should follow international law. Canadians are just hoping to not b officially annexed, some even want to join the US so there’s that. It’s a weird ass country.

Canadians are just dems with their own country, they snap into place the moment it comes to doing colonialism.

This shit so ass bruh. They’re literally overthrowing any country that doesn’t fall in line and can fight back.

My heart goes out to all our comrades under the US sphere of influence. I hope the US collapses before they can cause any more damage

The careful positioning in so many arenas is making sense, now. They do plan to wage war in all of them, just not at once. All the strategic posts, tweets, and comments are for the surprise factor. I do hope our comrades and their governments are prepared and manage to stay safe.

when you talk about cuba, it’s impotant to have in mind that the US already tried that before in its best moment…and it failed

It think a key difference would be there wouldn’t be any reluctance to provide air support this time.

They just dug up another unexploded bomb near where I live while installing water pipes. Let’s not pretend the US air support didn’t kill millions of people; that matters even in the event of victory against the fascists.

US has way more technology. Amerifat blobs will just keep hitting the country with drones piloted from their comfy chairs and causing mass death and chaos until the government collapses or surrenders.

They might go after Nicaragua or any pink tide ruling countries. Not shocking we might be in another operation condor.
