My main concerns is illegal content being posted, shared. Any advice?

Host PieFed instead. I’ve hosted Lemmy and PieFed and Lemmy was a huge pain to set up, and was very resource-heavy. PieFed was a breeze to set up, and the dev team beats Lemmy’s Dev team by a country-mile.
I run Mastodon in single user mode (only myself) and lemmy with registrations disabled. Also don’t use image proxy-ing with pictrs on lemmy if u concerned about illegal images

erm, to interact with the fediverse? and to have a place on my website for people to see what I’m up to?
But you can just sign up to anywhere on the fediverse, you don’t need to host your own server. What benefits do you get for hosting your own server with only you as a user?
