Is it just me or do you go crazy because the stupid apps on the TV are too slow?

Hit the button and it does nothing (perceived) so you hit button to go back to start again which is also too slow (perceived). Then you end up with Ship Wreck Hunters instead of Star Wars so you say fuck it and watch the Ship Wreck Hunters.

An external device connected to the tv is almost always going to be faster than whatever abandonware your TV shipped with for an operating system.

    Samsung, Roku, Hisense or Vizio?

I hate my family’s two year old Samsung for that reason + the forced ads. Had to put a parental lock just to not be subjected to trashy decade-old reality TV shows when I turn on the power.

My Insignia is also slow despite only being…I think 4-5 years old too. At least I can install apps on it.

I typically just pull up moonlight and stream from my PC but I also have beefy hardware. Not sure how much of a solution that’d be for you.

Second hand Firestick is also an okay option.

It’s an intentional nerf and it drives me nuts, the top of the line Samsung TVs have snappy responsiveness, while the further down tiers you go the slower the response of the remote keypress.

Unsure on your own smart TV, but on the one from a relative, I also notice an annoying slowness. Testing around, even with its limitations, plugging an Android-powered Raspberry Pi 5 on it proved to be faster.
