I’ve always been a bit of a pet whisperer, even well before I started HRT. Particularly with pets whose owners say “they don’t really like men”. Your cat doesn’t like men? Great me neither, we’ll get along swimmingly, and five minutes later the cat is sitting on my lap willing to receive belly scratches. It really is super validating.

Yep, when I visited a friend (before coming out even to myself) she warned me that her dog is always aggressive towards men. Cue five minutes later, that little goofball had me scratch her belly and pulling my hands back when I tried to stop :3

So who the hell upvoted this? This is learned, sexist, behaviour, same as how toddlers aren’t racist unless their parents are.

And last I checked, 50% of the LGBTQ community is men.

So again, who the hell upvoted this sexist trash meme?

“My dog is terrified of men”

        And OP’s “They know!”

As if it was a given to be terrified by half of the world population, and that you could just lump 4 billion people together and call them all dangerous.

      This is learned

Yes, but that’s not the same things as trained.

For example, my wife got a dog from a rescue. She was terrified of:

      • Men in hoodies
      • Drunk men
      • Men approaching her personal space

So when she interacted with men, including me, she would stay off to the side and watch. The men who could play with her, or interact with her in general without issue? Men who didn’t go to stand over her to pet her or otherwise take a dominating position.

When I first met her, my wife (then gf) left the room to help her mom, so I sat on the floor. Like 10 minutes later she was extremely playful with me. She recognized me as “safe”.

That doesnt mean she was sexist, it means she learned to fear most men based on her experience.

What you’re doing is conflating “learned” and “trained”.
