  • I took public transit to nyc because I dont want to deal with having a car with me, but I honestly regret it. The only bus back home is at 730am, with a 1 hour train ride to the station (so I need to wake up at 6am to be safe). I need to take another train home, which only runs every 2 hours, an I need to wait an hour. The ride itself is another hour. 8 hours for a trip I could have make in 4 hours, and for nearly half as much in gas compared to fares

The bus fare is fast too, most of the other options habe multiple changes that extend the 4:30 by HOURS. It could take me 10 hours of public transit

I fucking HATEEEE layovers, and changes. Routes and lines that are only ran every couple hours, so EVERY step can easily add an hour or more to a journey

  • What you mentioned was exactly what happened to me. I was literally a MINUTE walk from home and the button just WASNT doing anything, and the street was insanely busy. I was waiting for 30 MINUTES before I legit called my mom to drive like 300 feet to pick me up. It took 1 minute.

I was scarred from walking much ever since.

  • Same. If I’m at home trying to sleep I will genuinely have a panic attack without it. It’s the only thing that strongly occupies my attention enough to prevent a panic attack from setting in (that I can do while in bed)

Anything else is not personally engaging enough to prevent my mind from wandering (like listening to music, browsing Lemmy, or reading)

  • Anyone else feel really allienated when people act like it’s normal for women to have an anxious breakdown in the presence of, or interacting with a dude?

I don’t want to downplay what some go through, or the trauma that people relive, but it’s not normal or healthy to be living in constant fear of the opposite sex.

For all the guys who feel like their presence is an active threat to the women around them: just be normal. Be courteous, but don’t treat them higher, or lower, than anyone else you meet. Feels weird I have to say that
