11·3 days agoThat’s the Launch Escape System (LES). It’s a rocket motor that can activate to separate the crew capsule from the rest of the rocket in the event of a bad launch.
Void is an early 2000s game, pre-CAD sculpting. The Viridians are the more conventional force with both guard and Space Marine analogs. Other factions are pretty cool and wonky in their own ways. “Void 2.0” is a repackaged release of original sculpts and “Urban War” was a revival attempt using what looks like modified original sculpts.

(Yes the Sergeant is a woman. Void sculpts mix in a lot of women and they let you know it.)

If you like old metal Catachans, I can point to legit Void 1.1 minis on Nobleknight and sometimes eBay. Very similar vibe.
I get my minis from someone who gets them from someone, so there isn’t exactly a place to point to.
The law requires that I answer yes.

You are considering making a multi-mode, live service game as what I presume is a solo developer.
Make a single player game centered around a single gameplay loop. Get it working well and make it fun. Keep the scope under control.
Once you can do this play around with more complex gameplay loops in single player games but always keep your scope manageable and planned out. Write yourself a game design document that outlines the scope and general objectives of the project and stick to it.

57·15 days agoI’m very happy whenever a smaller studio (this game was developed by the Shovel Knight team) not just sees success, but becomes a stable small team able to put out multiple games.
This structure of small, but relatively stable and established teams seems like a much healthier gaming ecosystem than the bloated quadruple-A studio with hundreds of developers and a focus on mind numbing photorealism over actual gameplay.
