I installed Linux on a ThinkPad T480 and it’s now my gaming PC.
(Granted, I’m a patient gamer.)

Calling others gay or disabled as a slur.

Debian: Don’t complain, she calls me Old Ubuntu!
I know Linux can’t do that as well, I just don’t get WHY. It descends from an OS that was literally designed from the ground up for managing shared resources accessed from multiple clients.

Yes. I’m an IT sysadmin for the last fully independent local newspaper in my country.
It’s pretty challenging because a newspaper needs special systems that are a clusterfuck of tech debt that the suppliers don’t fix anymore, since the entire industry is dying.
There isn’t a default beginner distro anymore.
There are a dozen good choices with half a dozen different default desktop environments, all with their pros and cons.
But as a beginner, you have no idea what’s best for you.
It used to be a lot easier to choose your first distro, back when Ubuntu was still good (looong ago).
IMO Mint could be it, if they used Plasma instead of Cinnamon, which still doesn’t support Wayland.

Why do you think age verification involves your face?

Same thing applies.
The AUR doesn’t get security updates from Arch,
RPM Fusion doesn’t get security updates from Fedora,
Packman doesn’t get security updates from OpenSUSE,
and Slackbuilds/Alienbob don’t get security updates from Slackware.

No, it’s the same with every distro.
Distro maintainers CAN’T support repos containing non-free packages with security fixes.
Because they can’t fix security issues in the code.
Because the code is not free for them to edit.
This entire criticism just shows a lack of understanding of how distros work, and what security updates are.

That’s just bad design, not hostile.
Hostile sink design can be found at Frankfurt airport, where only hot water comes out of the tap, to get people to buy water bottles for 5€ if they want to drink it.

What I’m wondering is, why does Vim need new features in the core repo at all?
It’s finished software at this point.
The dev should just do security upgrades and let extensions developed by other people handle additional functionality.
Sounds like Bazzite would be a good fit.
